This Giveaway Has Ended--Easy Lunchboxes Review and Giveaway -- Moms, You Will Love These!

My kids started packing their school lunches this year when school lunch prices went up sharply.

For us, that meant lots of baggies and lunch sacks. Occasionally, I used a sandwich-size plastic container in an effort to be more "green," but pretzels, raisins, grapes, and my kids' "sides" still wound up in baggies.

Then I was contacted by Kelly Lester, mom and CEO of Easy Lunchboxes. She offered to let us try her lunchboxes. Kelly's invented a great system we've been using for awhile now, and it's so smart, yet so simple, I can't believe no one's thought of it before!

All of your "lunch" fits into a bento-box style container, and to keep your food warm or cool, you carry it in an insulated lunchbox. The lunchbox is big enough to also hold a juicebox, apple,  thermos, or anything additional you'd like to pack.

The plastic containers and lids are dishwasher-safe and microwavable, by the way. In case you're wondering, they will not leach BPA or Phthalates when heated or cooled according to the company's website. That was important to me, since I sometimes give my sons food that they reheat in their school's microwave.

The lunchbox kits--including a package of containers and lids, and an insulated lunchbox are also inexpensive. Kelly's covered all the bases--only a mom could've invented such a perfect lunchbox!

I know all of you parents are going to want one of these for each of your kids--if not for yourself!

EasyLunchboxes.com is offering 10% off your purchase with coupon code: Mama10 at checkout.

You can win a lunchbox kit too, courtesy of Kelly and EasyLunchboxes.com.

To enter:

1. Visit the site. Then come back here, and leave a comment below to tell me something you learned about these great lunchboxes, a new idea for what to pack in your child's lunchbox, how you can help the environment using this system. etc. (This entry is required.)

MomsWhoSave is a Brand Ambassador for The View!

I have big news today! I've been chosen to be a brand ambassador for The View!

I know lots of MomsWhoSave website visitors and twitter followers are fans of The View, so I'm excited to be able to share some inside information with all of you in the coming weeks.

I've been watching the show since it first started--back when Barbara narrated the beginning of the show, introducing each co-host. She would say, "a professional in her thirties" and say the youngest co-host, Debbie, was "just starting out."

I looked up to Barbara Walters when I was a little girl in the 70s and studied television production in college partly due to her influence. She has always been a groundbreaking figure for women, and creating The View is, in my opinion, one of her greatest accomplishments.

The View was a totally new concept in television, and I love that it's still around over ten years later for those of us who want to hear a panel made up of women talk about "real" issues. That includes politics and world events, husbands and children, and yes--fun things like fashion and celebrity gossip.

Sherri, Joy, Whoopi, Barbara, and Elisabeth are my coffee break companions every morning since I work from home, and I couldn't be more enthusiastic about this opportunity!

So, on that note, here's an exciting opportunity for fans of The View.

You have a chance to win a trip to New York City to watch a taping of the show! The sweepstakes is open until February 28th. You enter to win here.

______________________________________________________________

Disclosure:
I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review.

This Giveaway has Ended -- New Chocolate Cheerios Review & Gift Pack Giveaway!

MomsWhoSave has another fun giveaway for all you chocolate lovers!

Thanks to MyBlogSpark, I was offered the chance to try new Chocolate Cheerios from General Mills. Anyone who knows me, knows I love chocolate, so of course I had to say yes!

We all know that regular Cheerios are nutritious, so I was a little skeptical of how adding chocolate might change that in this new flavor.

I was happy to learn that Chocolate Cheerios have just 100 calories and at least 8 grams of whole grain per serving and are a good source of calcium and vitamin D.

If you'd like to win a prize package including a box of General Mills Chocolate Cheerios, a chocolate scented spa kit, and a ceramic cereal bowl, you can enter to win below.

You might also want to try this recipe using Chocolate Cheerios this Valentine's Day!

Chocolate Cheerios® Marshmallow Hearts

Prep Time: 30 Minutes
Start to Finish: 1 Hour 45 Minutes

Crust
1 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 cup Chocolate Cheerios® cereal, crushed
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups miniature marshmallows

Topping
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 bag (11.5 ounces) milk chocolate chips
4 cups Chocolate Cheerios® cereal
Candy sprinkles, if desired

1. Heat oven to 350°F. Line bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with foil. In large bowl, mix all crust ingredients except marshmallows with electric mixer on low speed until crumbly. Press firmly into bottom of pan.

2. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven. Immediately sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven; bake an additional 1 to 2 minutes or until marshmallows just begin to puff. Cool while preparing topping.

3. In large saucepan, place all topping ingredients except cereal and sprinkles. Heat over medium-low heat just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in 4 cups cereal. Immediately spoon warm topping over marshmallows; spread to cover. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles. Cool completely, at least 1 hour.

4. Using foil to lift, remove mixture from pan; remove foil. With deep 2 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out 18 hearts. Store loosely covered.

The giveaways continue at MomsWhoSave, and this is a fun one!

LuShae Jewelry contacted me not long ago and offered to let me sample a piece of jewelry from their collection of semi-precious gems, pearls, and CZs set in sterling silver or sterling silver or gold overlay. I chose this bold peridot-colored ring plated in rhodium. I've worn it a lot, and I've been really pleased with it. It's large, but casual enough to wear with anything because of the simple style.

LuShae Jewelry also carries pendants, earrings, and many more rings you can check out here.
