Is anyone else the parent of a graduating high school senior? I am finally recovered from my son’s graduation party! Actually, it was all the little, and not-so-little, to-do list items around the house that stressed me out before the party. The party itself was actually pretty easy!
We asked my son what he wanted, since it was his day, and he requested a very casual “open house” party. He wanted my husband to cook wings on the grill and make his “famous” mac and cheese. He asked us to order his favorite pizza for his friends and himself, and for the rest of the menu we picked up fruit and veggie trays, cookies, and ordered the graduation cake, along with a few other things guests brought over. Everyone just helped themselves to whatever they were hungry for throughout the evening.
By the way, Costco, or your favorite warehouse club is a great place to shop for veggie and fruit trays, cookies, etc.--and our custom-decorated sheet cake was so inexpensive I don't even want to tell you!
Our
house is not that large, so luckily people went in and out to the backyard. The
hit of the night was the fire pit. Once it got dark outside, my son and his
friends started the fire and all the boys gathered around it. It was a great
way to make sure everyone wasn’t just congregating in the house. Our idea was
to have s’mores, but most people were already too full! Still, there’s
something about sitting around a fire at night that people can’t resist.
