Old Navy is at it again! This Saturday, July 3rd, they’re offering their solid-colored flip-flops for just $1! There’s a limit of 5 per customer, and I expect the stores will be as chaotic as they were the last time this deal was offered. If you’re willing to fight the crowds, and may-be even stand in line though, this is a great deal!
Check out Old Navy’s Facebook page here for all the details. According to this page, you should print the ad and bring it with you. This is different than the last time, so be sure to bring your coupon.
You may also want to call ahead and check to see when your local store opens. Most stores will open at nine, but yours may be different.

DIY Photo Frame Craft Project from Rene Syler – You Will Love It!
Today I want to share a craft project with you. It’s inexpensive to make, the end result looks high-end, and you can make this with your kids. This idea comes from someone you might not automatically think of as frugal or doing craft projects, but you’d be wrong.
I’m talking about Rene Syler. You probably know her best from CBS’ The Early Show. Well, she is also an author (Good Enough Mother: The Perfectly Imperfect Book of Parenting), an ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, commentator on CNN, and most importantly a hands-on mom.
Rene is also an active Facebook user and one of my Facebook friends, and when I saw her post about this craft, I knew I had to share it.
When she was looking for teacher gifts at the end of this school year, she found some photo frames she loved in an expensive boutique. The problem was they were $50 each. Rene couldn’t justify spending that much, so she did what a sensible mom does, and made her own—well, Rene’s kids made them with some help when it came to the hot glue gun. The total amount she spent to make three frames was less than buying just one boutique shop frame.
This is the end result (I’m showing you my favorite one). Rene and her kids actually made three completely different styles of frames. Here’s the link to Rene Syler’s website where you can read her step-by-step instructions and see exactly which products she used.
You’ll notice there’s a note inside the frame. Each child wrote a short letter to their teacher saying “thank you” for everything they’d done for them during the school year. I think that was a thoughtful touch, and I’m sure one that the teachers appreciated.
I only wish Rene’s kids hadn’t gotten out of school so late! My kids have been out for at least ten days, so I missed out on being able to do this project for my kids’ teacher gifts this year. I will keep this in mind for next year though or may-be Christmas.
This would also be a good summertime craft project for a rainy day.

When you like Redbox on Facebook, you’ll get promo code good for a FREE one-night movie rental on June 21, 2010. I’m not sure why they picked the 21st, but if you’re able to watch a movie that day, you’re in luck! And, if you already “like” Redbox on Facebook, your code should already be waiting for you.

Your Kids Can Bowl FREE Every Day This Summer!
I posted previously about free summer movies, free museum days, and now here’s another great free activity to keep the kids busy this summer—bowling!
Brunswick is offering free bowing every day this summer for kids 12 and under! Just sign up here and you’ll receive your free bowling pass. You can also include your child’s birth month and year to get two free games on their birthday. By the way, this is available in the U.S. and Canada.
AMF Bowling Centers are also offering free bowling for kids in the U.S. and Canada this summer, and you can find details on their website here. This program seems to work a little bit differently, as AMF is offering a very low-cost family pass so that parents can bowl with their children at a very reduced cost.
Don’t Miss Free Donuts This Friday at Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts
This Friday, June 4th is National Donut Day and both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are offering free donuts!
At Krispy Kreme get a free donut with no purchase necessary, and at Dunkin Donuts, get a free donut with the purchase of ANY beverage.
My favorite’s Dunkin Donuts and the rest of my family likes Krispy Kreme, so I think we may have to hit both places!

Get Your Free Paint from Glidden!
Now through June 7th, or while supplies last, head to Glidden’s website and see how you can get two free paint testers for yourself and two for a friend.
Each covers about three square feet, so these are great for small projects, or to test a large area of a wall. This is a good idea if you’re thinking about painting a room and want to see how the color will look in different light or at different times of the day. I did this recently, and changed my mind about the color for my bedroom. What I liked in the store and even on the paint swatch at home was very different with the sun coming in through the windows!
