Scholastic's Online Guide Helps You Find the Perfect Summer Camp for Your Child

As we start the summer, I wanted to share a terrific resource with all of you parents. Many of you may be considering sending your kids to camp this year and don't know where to begin your search for the camp that will fit your child's interests, your budget, and of course, be safe, with qualified and caring staff.

Scholastic has an amazing online guide to help you in your search for that ideal summer camp experience--from art camp to music or computer camp to good old-fashioned swimming and hiking, this site is an amazing resource! Click here to check out their guide

You can use search criteria like your child's age, your location, your child's interests, price, and you can even look for special needs camps. (Find these special options under "advanced search.") I have never seen such a comprehensive camp guide!

Even though this website is full of great information, Scholastic Parent & Child magazine also suggests that if possible, you talk to the camp director and/or visit the camp in person before signing up.

If finances are an issue, don't be afraid to ask if scholarships or financial aid is available. If you're considering a day camp, you should check with your employer to see if your dependent care flexible spending account dollars can be spent on the camp fees. Check out fsafeds.com for more information.

Be sure to check out this great search tool as you look for camps this year. You may find some exciting new adventures for your child!
