Free and Cheap Things to do This Weekend!
Here's a look at some fun things to do that are cheap or free this weekend!
There are quite a few free store events and others that are coming up soon. A lot of these events are recurring, so bookmark this list or pin it for later! And if you know of any others to include, please let us know.
As always, it's best to call ahead and make sure that your local store or retailer is participating to avoid disappointment.
American Girl Store Events
Special events differ by location. During August they include a Summer Flower Anklet Craft, Summer Fun Celebration, Doll 'Dos and How-To's, Bitty Baby and Me Story Time, and Meet the Author Tours.Many of the American Girl in-store events are free, however some have a fee and some have age restrictions. Barnes & Noble
GetPopCultured Store Events now through August 10th - a nationwide celebration of popular entertainment themed events.During the month of August - participate in reading, Spanish word practice and activities- dates and times vary by store.

Container Store
Learn the Tricks of Organization on Saturdays and Sundays, now thorough August 24th. Find more information and find your closest Container Store here. Times and event dates vary by location.
Disney Stores
Disney Stores are offering Summer Play Days every day this summer now through September 1, 2014. The fun includes Art of Animation, Trivia, Story Time and Showtime. Check your local Disney store for event details and times. Kids will receive a free button for participation each week.Guitar Center

Of course, it's much more fun to go to the theater, eat movie popcorn, and sit in the dark to watch a movie. So go enjoy yourself with the kids and cool off on a hot day for only a few dollars!

Fun & Free Workshops for Kids at Lowe's & Home Depot
Lowe's and Home Depot offer monthly hands-on project workshops for kids, and they're completely FREE!
Home Depot's workshop is for kids ages 5 to 12 on the first Saturday of each month from 9 to noon. (Click on the "Kids' Workshops" tab.)
Materials are provided, and your child will receive a FREE Kids Workshop apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement. Details are here at Home Depot's website, where you can also find a store locator.
You can check out the Kids' Clinic schedule here and register your child for an upcoming clinic.
Remember, to check out the websites often for the latest workshops, and take advantage of the opportunity for your kids to learn some do-it-yourself skills.

Free Apple Filmmaking Camp for Kids
How fun is this? Apple is offering a fun and FREE three-day workshop for kids 8-12 this summer.
This Free Apple Summer Camp will teach your child the ins and outs of filmmaking with iMovie. The workshop, held at Apple Retail Stores, lasts three days, and leads up to an Apple Camp Film Festival where campers will debut their masterpieces.

Check Out "Sensory Friendly Films" for Kids with Autism or Sensory Issues
AMC Theatres and the Autism Society have teamed up to bring families affected by autism a special opportunity to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment on a monthly basis with the "Sensory Friendly Films" program.
In order to provide a more comfortable setting for children and families affected by autism spectrum disorders and sensory issues, the movie theaters will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. In addition, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing, as long as there are no safety concerns.

The first weekend of every month, Bank of America customers can show their Bank of America credit, debit, or ATM card at 150 different museums, botanical gardens, zoos, and science centers and receive free admission.
New locations have been added, including children's museums, science centers, and more. Click here to find participating locations near you.
If you'll be traveling, you might want to check this list before you leave to see if there are any museums on the list at your destination city. Remember though, that the free admission offer is only good during the first weekend of the month.
