It's finally here--the time of year a lot of you have been waiting for! Of course, I'm talking about football season. We love football at our house. In fact, my husband and oldest son even got to take in a Carolina Panthers game this past weekend!

**I love these because of course they are pre-measured. They're great if you have kids or teens helping do laundry. They can't use too much detergent. They just toss it in the washer in one "fling!"

Family Dollar Home Makeover Challenge + You Can Win a $50 Gift Card or an iPad Air!

I decided to really stretch those dollars and decorate my bedroom--yes, spending just $50 at Family Dollar! I sometimes wondered what I was thinking, since that $50 probably would have gone further in a smaller space. I chose the bedroom though because as I mentioned in my earlier post, it was the one room of the house that had been neglected since we moved in.
I stuck to my original plan of redoing my bedroom, and by using some Family Dollar coupons, I even squeezed a few extra dollars out of my budget! In the end, I can say I made a huge improvement in the room.

The look my room had before was "just moved in," although that wasn't the case. It was just a lack of decorating. I wish I could put into words the change in the "feel" of the room after the makeover. It's so peaceful and relaxing.

My Family Dollar purchases included curtain rods and new curtains to soften the window, a small water fountain on the night table, a lamp, picture frames, and a chocolate-colored faux-fur throw for the bed.
I also love that Procter & Gamble generously provided some of their latest Swiffer, Febreze, Mr. Clean, Gain, and other products to help me clean and freshen up my new space.The Febreze Bedside Diffuser gives a light, fresh scent to my newly-redecorated room, and I like that it doesn't take batteries or need to be plugged into an outlet. And, have you seen the Swiffer Sweep & Trap? I have a Swiffer Sweeper and a Swiffer WetJet, but how did I not know about the Swiffer Sweep & Trap? It's not only a Sweeper, it picks up larger pieces of dirt and debris off the floor with plastic rotating blades--without batteries or electricity.

I stopped by Family Dollar today, and got some great buys!
Wrapping paper and bows -- You can never have enough, and with wrapping paper rolls just $1 and the second roll 50¢, I couldn't pass these up!
These cute little "treat" bags filled with candy -- I'm making these treat bags for my son's school. The bags were just $1 (and this was a BOGO deal). Then I picked up some candy, including mini candy candy canes on BOGO.
Holiday kitchen towels -- I thought these Christmas kitchen towels were so cute, I couldn't resist them. They were a BOGO 50% off item too, so I almost bought more. I'm not even quite sure what I'm going to do with them. I was thinking of adding them as a little "extra" with some other gifts I'm giving, but I may keep one set for myself!
Christmas lights -- These indoor/outdoor lights are also part of the BOGO 50% off sale, and they were already a great price. I don't know how you take a good photo of Christmas lights, but trust me when I say that they DO look good! In fact, I plan to go back and get two more sets.
I'm also still thinking about that toy sale. I'd like to take my son back to Family Dollar with me to pick out at least a couple of things for the Salvation Army or "Toys for Tots." This is the perfect chance to make your dollar go further for charity too!
